Although the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation announced water supply every five days, it remained only on paper, and even at the end of July, citizens are suffering from drinking water shortages as if it were summer. In some areas, water is supplied every ten days, and in some places, every twelve to fifteen days, causing intense dissatisfaction among citizens.
In May and June, the water supply in the city was relatively smooth. However, as July began, frequent pipeline bursts and power outages have come to light. As a result, even during the monsoon, citizens have to wander for water as if it were summer. Last week, due to a pipeline burst, water supply schedules had to be postponed for two consecutive days. Prior to that, a power outage delayed the water supply by a day. In just two weeks, the water supply has been completely disrupted three times. Consequently, residents in various colonies in the city are struggling daily for water.
Currently, only 25 to 30 MLD of water is being supplied through the newly laid 900 mm diameter water pipeline for the city. The new pipe connection work for this pipeline at the Farola water purification center will take place in the coming week. A minimum two-day shutdown is necessary for this work. Therefore, there is a possibility of water supply disruption once again. However, the administration claims that this connection will enable the city to receive 75 MLD of water at full capacity.
The schedule of the city's water tanks has completely collapsed. Water supply is being provided every ten days from the N-5 tank (R-2), every twelve days from the Shahaganj tank, every ten days from the Marimata tank, every eight days from the Jai Vishvabharati tank, every nine days from the Jubilee Park tank, and every eight days from the Garkheda tank. Due to this disorganized system, dissatisfaction has arisen among the citizens, and there is a demand for the municipality to take immediate concrete measures to streamline the water supply.
