In a major push towards modern skill development, the Maharashtra government has announced six new job-oriented courses in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), aimed at equipping students with skills in emerging technologies. The move comes in response to the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies across various sectors.

From the upcoming academic year, ITIs in the state will offer courses in Artificial Intelligence, Electric Vehicle Management, Industrial Robotics, 3D Printing, Drone Technology, and Solar Technician training. These courses were announced by Maharashtra's Minister for Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Mangal Prabhat Lodha.

Traditionally, ITIs have focused on conventional trades such as Welding, Fitting, Wireman, Electrician, and Motor Mechanic. However, with rapid technological advancements and the evolving needs of the industry, there has been an increasing demand for specialized training in new-age sectors.

Key New Courses Introduced:

  • Electric Vehicle Management: With the rising adoption of electric vehicles in the market, trained technicians are needed for their maintenance and servicing.

  • Drone Technology: Drones are increasingly used in agriculture, land surveying, security, and the film industry, leading to high demand for skilled operators.

  • Solar Technician: As the demand for clean energy surges, there is a growing need for trained professionals in solar energy installation and maintenance.

  • 3D Printing & Industrial Robotics: Industries are seeking skilled workers in these fields for precision and rapid manufacturing processes.

  • Artificial Intelligence: AI is revolutionizing nearly every sector, making it critical for students to be trained in its fundamentals and applications.

These courses aim to align technical education with current industry requirements, enabling students to stay technologically relevant and competitive in the job market. Officials believe that this initiative will not only broaden employment avenues for youth but also play a key role in the overall development of a future-ready workforce.

"This is a significant step toward bridging the skill gap and preparing students for the future," said Minister Lodha, emphasizing the state’s commitment to innovation and employability.
