On the auspicious occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his wife Amruta Fadnavis performed the official Mahapuja of Lord Vitthal and Goddess Rukmini at the revered temple in Pandharpur.
As part of the traditional celebration, the couple conducted the ceremonial worship early this morning, invoking blessings for the happiness and prosperity of the state’s farmers, workers, and all citizens, as well as for the overall development of Maharashtra.
Kailas Ugle and Kalpana Ugle, Warkaris from Nashik district, were honored with the privilege of offering worship as distinguished devotees on this sacred day. Rural Development Minister Jaykumar Gore was also present during the rituals.
During the official Mahapuja, Chief Minister Fadnavis made a solemn vow for the welfare of Maharashtra. “I prayed to Lord Vitthal for the strength to serve Maharashtra with dedication, the wisdom to walk the right path, and joy-filled days for Baliraja (the farmer),” he said.
An estimated 18 lakh devotees thronged Pandharpur today to celebrate Ashadhi Ekadashi. Following the conclusion of the official Mahapuja in the presence of over 15 lakh devotees, the grand festivities of this spiritually significant day commenced with great devotion and enthusiasm.
The temple town of Pandharpur has transformed into a spiritual hub as lakhs of devotees from across Maharashtra and beyond have gathered to celebrate the grand festival of Ashadhi Ekadashi.
Devotees have been seen taking holy dips in the sacred Chandrabhaga River before proceeding for the darshan of Lord Vitthal. The overwhelming turnout has led to the darshan queue stretching well beyond Gopalpur — a rare occurrence that marks the immense devotion witnessed this year.
For the first time, the face-to-face darshan queue has reportedly extended for nearly six to seven kilometers, underscoring the spiritual fervor surrounding the occasion.
Guardian Minister Jaykumar Gore and Disaster Management Minister Girish Mahajan are personally overseeing the arrangements to ensure the smooth management of darshan and the safety of the pilgrims.
The atmosphere in Pandharpur is charged with devotion, music, and chants, as the centuries-old tradition continues to draw millions to the abode of Lord Vitthal.
