In a significant step towards digital empowerment and convenience, the Government of India has introduced a mobile-based solution for ration card holders. Citizens can now access their digital ration cards directly on their smartphones through the newly updated 'Mera Ration 2.0' app. A ration card is not just a tool for subsidized food distribution—it also serves as a crucial government-approved identity document. It contains verified details of family members and is often used as proof of address and identity for purposes such as obtaining a passport, getting a gas connection, or opening a bank account. In rural India especially, the ration card remains one of the most essential identity documents for millions of families.
However, misplacing the physical card or forgetting it at home while visiting the ration shop can cause unnecessary trouble. To resolve this issue, the government has launched a digital solution that ensures ration card access anytime, anywhere.
Download the App: Search and install ‘Mera Ration 2.0’ from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Login: Open the app and enter your Aadhaar number.
OTP Verification: Tap on ‘Login with OTP’, then enter the OTP received on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
View Your Card: Once logged in, your digital ration card will appear on your screen.
Use at Shops: Simply show this digital card at your nearest ration shop to avail food grains.
For those who do not yet have a ration card, the Government of Maharashtra offers an online application facility. Visit the official website of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department or the Aaple Sarkar portal at:

With this digital initiative, the government continues to promote paperless governance and ease of access to essential services.
