(Girish Mahajan) Voting is being held today for 264 chairperson positions and 6,042 member positions in municipal councils and municipal panchayats. After voting today, counting of votes was scheduled to take place tomorrow, December 3. However, now a major piece of information has come to light. Due to pending court proceedings regarding some municipal councils, the voting process for nearly 20 municipal councils in the state had been postponed. Along with this, a petition was filed in the High Court demanding that the results of all elections be announced on the same day. Against this backdrop, the Nagpur bench of the High Court has now delivered an important verdict.
The High Court bench has directed that the results of all municipal council and municipal panchayat elections be announced on the same day, i.e., December 21. After hearing all the arguments, the High Court bench has given this decision. Therefore, candidates will now have to wait for December 21.
Now, many reactions are coming from the political circles on this. Girish Mahajan said, "Everyone expected that the results would be declared tomorrow. But in this context, the court has given its verdict. I think such confusion has never occurred in the state before, but it has happened now. Until yesterday, there was confusion that the municipalities had been cancelled for the first time. But now the opposition has once again got an opportunity to speak," said Girish Mahajan.
