(kolkata Heavy Rainfall) Torrential rain has been falling in Kolkata since Monday night, and it has been reported that 10 people have died so far. Out of the deceased, 9 people were electrocuted. The continuous torrential rain has disrupted the city's life.

A record of 251 mm of rain was recorded within 24 hours. For the first time since 1986, Kolkata experienced such heavy rainfall. Waterlogging on the roads caused traffic to come to a standstill, while railway and metro services were disrupted, and flights were also delayed.

A holiday was declared for educational institutions in the state. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee described the situation as 'terrible' and urged citizens to stay at home for safety.
