A historic day unfolds in Maharashtra as ‘Marathi Vijay Din’ is set to be celebrated in Mumbai today with an unprecedented show of unity between Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray and MNS chief Raj Thackeray. The two prominent leaders will share the stage for the first time in years, signaling a powerful moment in the state's political landscape.
Speaking earlier this morning, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut shared complete details of the event and emphasized the symbolic and cultural importance of the day.
“The program will begin at 11:30 AM with the Marathi national anthem,” said Raut. This will be followed by a performance by a local Koliwada band, showcasing traditional Marathi culture. The event will be hosted by Ajit Bhure.
Raut also clarified that the event is inclusive in nature.
“Even if leaders from other parties attend, they will be given a place on the stage. This is a celebration of Marathi identity, not a partisan gathering,” he stated.
To accommodate the massive crowd expected outside the Dome Hall in Worli, large LED screens have been installed, extending all the way to Haji Ali Road, ensuring that thousands of citizens can witness the historic event.
At the conclusion of the program, Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray will deliver a joint address to the people of Maharashtra.
“This moment of unity between the two leaders is a source of hope and excitement, not just in Mumbai, but across every corner of the state,” Raut said.
Turning his attention to the ruling state government, Raut lashed out at Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, referencing the recent “Jai Gujarat” controversy.
“Gujarat and Maharashtra were once part of the same state. Baroda was a Maratha state. At such a time, for a Maharashtrian leader to raise the slogan ‘Jai Gujarati’ is an insult to Marathi people,” Raut asserted.
He also reminded the public of the sacrifices made in defense of Marathi rights.
“We fought for the rights of Marathi-speaking people. Many cases were filed against us, but we never backed down,” he said.
As Mumbai gears up for this emotionally charged and politically significant event, the ‘Marathi Vijay Din’ celebration stands as a defining moment in the cultural and political journey of the state.
