Nationalist Congress Party Sharad Chandra Pawar's state president Jayant Patil has written a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. In this letter, he has written that 'Director Anant Mahadevan's film Phule' has been released worldwide on 25 April 2025 and is being widely liked by the audience. We demand that this film be made tax free so that more and more people can watch it.'

'Sir, the history of Mahatma Phule and Savitrimai is not limited to opening water tanks for Dalits, opening doors for education, and taking steps for women's education. Mahatma Phule and Savitrimai have done much more. The impact of their work is so immense that just as their work was opposed in the 19th century, their film was opposed in the 21st century. As a result, the Censor Board cut about 12 scenes from the film. But the thoughts of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitrimai were not cut.'

Along with this, he further said, 'Everyone should see this entire journey of the couple fighting to give a person the right to live as a human being. This film should also be shown to the responsible people who spread misinformation about them. This will clear up many misconceptions. Through this film, we will get to see the living history of the movement built for the upliftment of society. Therefore, I request the government to make the film tax-free and make it accessible to more and more people, the great personalities who created a transformational, progressive Maharashtra should be honored. The impression of our glorious history should be imprinted in everyone's mind,' said Jayant Patil.
