MNS Will Demand The Chief Minister to Establish An Independent Men's Commission In The State

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Ashish Sable has called on Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to establish an independent State Commission for Men, citing rising instances of alleged injustice and false complaints against men.

In a statement to the media, Sable argued that just as there is a Women’s Commission to address issues faced by women, there should be a similar body to look into the concerns and grievances of men. "Many men today are victims of mental and social harassment due to false accusations. Such cases are on the rise, and often the voices of men go unheard," he said.

Highlighting the growing need for a gender-neutral approach to justice, Sable said that the establishment of a Men's Commission would provide a formal platform for men to seek redressal and highlight cases of unfair treatment. He added that several men suffer in silence due to societal stigma, and an official body could help bring their concerns to light.

The MNS has announced plans to meet with Deputy CM Fadnavis soon, where a party delegation will submit a formal memorandum detailing the demand. In addition, Sable has already written to the Chief Minister, stating that the harassment rate against men in the country stands at 51.5%, a figure he believes is too significant to ignore.

While the demand is likely to spark debate, it comes at a time when discussions around gender rights are becoming more inclusive. Some social experts have noted that while violence and discrimination against women must remain a focus, there is also a need to recognize instances where men may be at the receiving end of injustice.

It remains to be seen how the government and wider society respond to this demand, and whether the idea of a Men's Commission gains broader support.
