A major scam involving bogus teacher recruitment has been exposed in Nagpur district, leading to the arrest of Dilip Dhote, Chairman of the Vitthal-Rukmini Multi-Educational Institute. The revelations have caused a stir across the region, with investigators suspecting a multi-crore racket involving fake appointments and forged documents.

According to the State Crime Investigation Department (CID), Dhote, a resident of Mohpak in Kalmeshwar taluka, allegedly accepted bribes of ₹15 to ₹16 lakh from each candidate in exchange for fake teaching appointments. Preliminary findings indicate that around 20 to 30 candidates may have been fraudulently recruited, pushing the scam’s total worth into several crores of rupees.

Fake Documents and Crores in Bribes

Authorities revealed that candidates were appointed as teachers using forged documents, and massive sums of money changed hands during the recruitment process. The SIT (Special Investigation Team) has launched a detailed probe into the financial aspects of the case. Cash transactions, forged appointment letters, and fake ID cards recovered from Dhote are proving to be crucial pieces of evidence.

Financial Trail Under Scrutiny

The SIT is currently examining Dhote’s bank accounts and currency transactions to trace the flow of illicit money. An IT cell flagged suspicious activity, leading to the discovery of fake IDs and recruitment documents.

Notably, Pay Superintendent Nilesh Waghmare is also under investigation. He is accused of creating fake identities for the candidates involved in the scam. Officials believe that several more high-profile names could emerge as the probe deepens.

“This is just the tip of the iceberg. More arrests are likely as the investigation progresses,” said a senior investigating officer.

The scandal has raised serious questions about the integrity of teacher recruitment processes in educational institutions, and further developments are expected in the coming days.
