The 19th installment of the scheme was released in February 2025 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, benefiting over 9.8 crore farmers, including 2.4 crore women. Prior to that, the 18th installment was disbursed in October 2024, and the 17th in June 2024. Following this quarterly cycle, the 20th installment is expected to be deposited in farmers’ accounts in the coming days.
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, the central government provides ₹6,000 per year to eligible farmers in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months. The amount is directly transferred to the beneficiaries' bank accounts via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
To make the scheme more accessible and transparent, the PM-KISAN Mobile App was launched on February 24, 2020. In 2023, the app was upgraded with a facial authentication feature, allowing farmers to complete e-KYC without the need for OTPs or fingerprints—especially helpful in remote areas.
The app and web portal offer several services:
Self-registration
Benefit status tracking
e-KYC through facial authentication
In addition, more than 5 lakh Common Service Centers (CSCs) across India are helping farmers register and complete mandatory formalities.
To enroll in PM-KISAN and receive payments, farmers must ensure their details are correctly submitted. Required information includes:
Beneficiary’s name and date of birth
Aadhaar number
Bank account number, IFSC, and MICR codes
Mobile number
Other relevant details as found in the passbook
The Postal Department is also facilitating Aadhaar-mobile linking services to streamline the enrollment process.
Farmers are advised to keep a check on the official PM-KISAN portal or app for real-time updates regarding the 20th installment. Timely completion of e-KYC and updating of bank details is essential to avoid delays in receiving benefits.
