The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and senior officials from all three branches of the Indian Armed Forces. The primary agenda was to review border security, assess military preparedness, and respond to recent provocations from across the border.
On Thursday night, Pakistan launched drone and missile strikes targeting Indian border regions, including military bases and nearby civilian areas. However, the Indian Armed Forces successfully intercepted and neutralized all attempted attacks.
In response, PM Modi chaired the emergency meeting where the closure of key civilian airports was approved to safeguard citizens and allow unrestricted military operations.
The following 28 airports will remain closed for civilian operations until 5:29 AM on May 15:

Airlines such as Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet have cancelled numerous flights to and from these affected airports. Passengers are being advised to check flight status and avoid non-essential travel in impacted regions.
Meanwhile, Border Security Force (BSF) units and other central paramilitary forces have been placed on high alert to respond swiftly to any threat.
The Centre has urged citizens to remain calm but alert, and assured the public that all security measures are in place. A government spokesperson reiterated that civilian safety and national integrity are top priorities.
