Strict security arrangements in Imphal and district headquarters Churachandpur
In the backdrop of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to Manipur, the security apparatus in the state has been put on alert. A large number of state police and central forces have been deployed around the Kangla Fort in Imphal and the Peace Ground in Churachandpur. As the Prime Minister is scheduled to have public events at both these locations, preparations for setting up the stage are underway.
According to information provided by officials, strict inspections and patrols by trained dog squads have been arranged around the Kangla Fort. For security reasons, tourist access to the fort area has been restricted, and all movements are being closely monitored. Security inspections are ongoing throughout the area under the supervision of senior officials.
Although it is speculated that Modi will arrive in Manipur from Mizoram, there has been no formal announcement regarding the official schedule. Nevertheless, special meetings have been organized by the state government and security forces for preliminary preparations.
Meanwhile, the Manipur government has requested the United Naga Council (UNC), representing the Naga community, to lift the economic blockade on the national highway. In a letter sent by Chief Secretary Punit Kumar Goyal, it was mentioned that the central government is in dialogue with the UNC regarding the India-Myanmar border wall issue.
