A major development has emerged in the high-profile Santosh Ladda robbery case, as police have arrested Rohini Khotkar, sister of the main accused Amol Khotkar, who was killed in a police encounter. The arrest was made after 22 tolas of stolen gold and 7 live cartridges were recovered from her residence.
According to officials, a police raid at Rohini Khotkar’s home led to the seizure of 22 tolas of gold, suspected to be part of the loot stolen from businessman Santosh Ladda’s house. Additionally, seven live cartridges were discovered during the search.
Notably, this is not the first recovery linked to Rohini. A few days earlier, based on her own instructions, police had seized 30 kilograms of silver hidden in a car parked in a garage. With the discovery of gold at her residence, suspicions of her direct involvement in the robbery have intensified.
A few weeks ago, a major robbery took place at the residence of businessman Santosh Ladda. The loot included 5.5 kg of gold, 32 kg of silver, and ₹70,000 in cash. Investigations revealed that the act was pre-planned and carried out by a well-organized criminal gang.
Main accused Amol Khotkar had earlier attempted to evade arrest by opening fire on police. He was killed in retaliatory police action. After the encounter, his sister Rohini had publicly accused the police of wrongdoing. However, with stolen property now recovered from her own home, the tables have turned, and she is now under serious suspicion.
Further investigations have revealed a complex network of conspirators. One of Ladda’s acquaintances, Balasaheb Ingole, reportedly spread rumors that Ladda kept crores in cash at home. Driven by greed, he formed a gang to execute the heist and even considered using witchcraft to ensure success. However, the plan was hijacked by another accused, Hasbe, who executed the robbery with his own associates.
So far, 20 accused have been arrested in connection with the case. With Rohini Khotkar now in custody, police expect further critical leads and revelations regarding the location of the remaining stolen valuables and the involvement of other individuals.
The investigation is progressing rapidly, and police officials have indicated that more arrests and breakthroughs are likely in the coming days.
