Airtel AI Alert: AI-fraud alert for Airtel users; Alert message will be received during the call
As incidents of online fraud continue to rise, Airtel has launched a revolutionary AI-powered fraud alert system to protect its customers. This system provides immediate alerts in suspicious situations of OTP requests during calls, potentially saving millions of customers from fraud. Fraudsters present themselves as bank officers, delivery agents, or customer service representatives to request OTPs, and mistakenly sharing them leads to empty bank accounts, which will now be prevented.
OTP fraud has become the biggest problem these days. Fraudsters adopt new tricks; they call under the guise of delivery updates, KYC, or bank notifications and quickly ask for OTP. Many people share without thinking, causing their accounts to collapse. Airtel's new system is based on artificial intelligence (AI). If an OTP arrives from the bank while the call is ongoing, the system immediately sends an alert saying "Do not share OTP while on a call, it can be dangerous." This feature is specifically designed to identify suspicious calls.
An Airtel spokesperson said, "In the last two years, we have implemented AI-based solutions such as spam call blocking, preventing malicious links, and early alerts. This has reduced fraud incidents by 40%. This new system will directly address OTP fraud and strengthen digital security." Currently, this facility has started in the state of Haryana and will be available to all customers across the country in the next two weeks.
Consumer organizations have welcomed this step, considering it important towards Digital India. Experts believe that such AI systems will further significantly reduce the incidence of fraud. Airtel has urged customers to never share OTPs on unknown calls and to activate the feature through the MyAirtel app.
