Tesla, a company that has established a unique identity in the global electric vehicle sector, has finally made its official entry into India. The company's first showroom was opened on Tuesday at Maker Maxity Mall in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai. Tesla's entry has caused a significant stir in the Indian electric vehicle market. Many dignitaries were present at the inauguration of this showroom. Police security was also deployed at the event location.

After Tesla's entry into India, direct competition will arise for domestic companies like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Tata Motors, and Mahindra. Tesla is now ready to establish its position in this market. The company has made only one model, 'Model Y', available in India in the first phase. According to Bloomberg's report, six cars of this model have already been sent to Mumbai from Tesla's Shanghai plant. Additionally, it has been clarified that a second showroom will open in Delhi by the end of July. As a result, the company has increased its recruitment process in India and has also finalized a location for a warehouse.

Tesla Model Y will be available to customers in two variants. The rear-wheel drive variant offers a range of 500 kilometers on a single charge and takes only 5.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. The other variant is the long-range rear-wheel drive, which has a range of 622 kilometers and reaches 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds. Both variants include a premium sound system with 9 speakers, a 15.4-inch front touchscreen display, and second-generation suspension noise reduction hardware.

Official indications regarding Tesla's entry into India were given last Friday. A teaser saying “Coming soon” was posted from the company's 'Tesla India' handle on X (formerly Twitter). It clearly indicated that the company's entry into India would begin from the month of July. With Tesla's arrival, competition in the electric vehicle sector in India will become more intense, providing Indian consumers with another renowned option for choosing environmentally friendly and technologically advanced vehicles.
