Union Budget 2026: Big benefit for content creators in Budget 2026, lakhs of jobs will be created in AVGC sector
In the 2026-27 budget presented in Parliament by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, priority has been given to the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) sector. This rapidly growing sector will require 2 million professionals by 2030, and the government has made a major announcement to open AVGC content creator labs in 15,000 secondary schools and 500 colleges across the country in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Creating Technology (IICT) Mumbai. This scheme will truly be a game-changer for content creators and youth.
The Finance Minister in the speech considered the AVGC sector as the foundation of a developed India, emphasizing teaching game development, animation, and creative skills at the school-college level. Students from the grassroots will receive training in creating digital content, which will create millions of jobs. They expressed hope that by 2047, India will become a global leader in IT and content creation. For this, tech fellowships, AI governance, and deep-tech robotics are being encouraged.
A budget of 1.22 trillion rupees has been announced to strengthen digital infrastructure, and internet connectivity and digital networks will be expanded. Special provisions have been made for AI data centers, cloud services, 5G/6G technology, and the biopharma sector. The Semiconductor Mission 2.0 has been announced to boost chip production, which will make India self-reliant in indigenous technology.
These announcements have been welcomed by professionals in the gaming and AVGC industry. New opportunities are opening up for the youth, and this sector will give new strength to India's economy.
