Uttar Pradesh Aligarh : Minor girl and young teacher found dead in hotel room in Aligarh
In a deeply disturbing incident that has shocked the city of Aligarh, the bodies of a 14-year-old girl and a 24-year-old man were discovered in a hotel room, allegedly after a suicide pact. The tragedy unfolded in room number 204 of Hotel The Royal Respite, located at Khereshwar Square, between 3 and 4 p.m. The deceased have been identified as Chandrabhan, a 24-year-old local teacher, and a minor girl who was one of his students. According to initial reports, both individuals consumed poison, ending their lives in what is believed to be a result of a forbidden love affair.
A Relationship That Turned Tragic
Chandrabhan, a resident of the Jwalajipuram area of Aligarh, was pursuing a B.Tech degree and worked as a teacher in a local school. He also conducted private tuition classes from his home. The 14-year-old girl, who lived nearby, attended his classes. Over time, their teacher-student relationship reportedly developed into a romantic involvement, despite the significant age gap. Their closeness did not go unnoticed. Eventually, family members on both sides learned about the relationship and disapproved. The minor’s mother took immediate action—temporarily pulling her daughter out of school and tuition classes in an attempt to end the connection.
While it seemed things had returned to normal—with the girl resuming school and Chandrabhan continuing his teaching—sources suggest the two remained emotionally connected. On the morning of May 5, the girl left home saying she was going to school but instead met Chandrabhan. Together, they checked into Hotel The Royal Respite. Chandrabhan reportedly used his real identification to book the room, while the minor girl presented a fake ID under the name Muskan Rana, listing her year of birth as 2002. The room was booked from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Final Moments and Discovery
As the day progressed, the girl’s mother grew concerned after learning from her daughter's classmates that she had not attended school. Meanwhile, Chandrabhan called a friend in Delhi, expressing distress and implying he might take drastic steps. Alarmed, the friend attempted to dissuade him, but Chandrabhan abruptly ended the call.
That friend then alerted another acquaintance in Aligarh, providing the name and address of the hotel. When the friend arrived at the hotel and staff unlocked the room, they were met with a heartbreaking sight: both Chandrabhan and the minor girl were found dead. Police confirmed that both had consumed poison.
Families Devastated
The girl came from a modest background. She lived with her mother, younger brother, and grandparents. Her mother works in a private company and is the sole breadwinner following the father's absence.
Chandrabhan, on the other hand, was the only son in his family and is survived by his parents and three younger sisters. Alongside completing his final year of engineering studies, he supported his family by working as a teacher.
Investigation Underway
The police are investigating all aspects of the case, including how a minor was able to check into a hotel using a fake ID and whether there were any lapses in the hotel's verification process. Authorities have also noted the serious implications of the age difference and are treating the case with the gravity it demands.
The incident has reignited conversations around adolescent mental health, child protection, and the need for vigilance in educational spaces. The community remains stunned by the tragedy, which has brought two families to grief and raised numerous social and legal concerns.
