A 33-year-old professor was attacked with a sharp weapon and murdered after an altercation while alighting from a local train at Malad railway station on the Western Railway around 6 PM on Saturday. This incident involved Alok Kumar Singh, a resident of Dombivli. He was working as a professor at a college in Vile Parle. The assailant fled the scene, and the Borivali railway police have launched a search operation to find him.
While traveling on the Churchgate-Borivali slow local, a dispute arose between Alok Kumar Singh and the assailant. After alighting at Malad station, the argument escalated. The enraged assailant took out a sharp weapon from his pocket and stabbed Singh on the right side of his abdomen. Singh was seriously injured and collapsed on the platform. Eyewitnesses immediately called for help, and he was admitted to Shatabdi Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Borivali railway police have registered a murder case against an unknown person. Railway Police Western Circle Deputy Commissioner of Police Sunita Salunke-Thakare stated that the search for the absconding assailant is ongoing. With the help of CCTV footage and eyewitnesses, the accused will be caught soon. This incident has created an atmosphere of fear among passengers, and railway police have increased security.
