In a major breakthrough, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has arrested a 23-year-old Nigerian woman, identified as Blessing Favor Oboh, for attempting to smuggle drugs from Delhi to Mumbai. This marks a significant success for the DRI in its ongoing crackdown on international drug trafficking.

The accused was travelling by bus from Delhi to Mumbai when she was intercepted and her luggage was searched. Officials found 2.563 kilograms of amphetamine and 584 grams of drug tablets, both classified as narcotic substances under Indian law. The estimated market value of the seized drugs is reported to be between ₹7 to ₹8 crore.

Following her arrest, Oboh was taken to the DRI office for interrogation. During questioning, she confessed to smuggling the drugs in exchange for a large sum of money. Authorities believe that her arrest may uncover links to a wider international drug trafficking network.

According to DRI officials, an investigation is underway to identify the kingpin and other associates connected to the case. There is growing concern about the increasing smuggling of narcotics into India, attributed to rising domestic demand.

This is not the first such instance in recent times. In a similar operation earlier, a youth from Mumbai’s Borivali area was also arrested in connection with drug smuggling. Officials emphasize that operations to trace and dismantle international drug syndicates are ongoing, and more arrests may follow.
