In a startling incident, a female constable from the Punjab Police has been dismissed from service after she was found making social media reels in uniform—an act strictly prohibited by departmental guidelines. The case has further escalated after the same constable was caught in possession of illegal drugs, leading to serious charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Violation of Departmental Guidelines

Over the past few years, the popularity of short video reels has surged, especially on platforms like Instagram and Facebook. While the trend continues to grow, it has also raised concerns about the decorum expected from individuals in public service roles. The Punjab Police has clear directives against making reels while wearing the official khaki uniform. Despite the prohibition, several personnel have been seen violating these rules.

In this case, a female police constable, identified as Amandeep Kaur, was found creating such reels while in uniform. This violation alone was deemed serious enough to warrant disciplinary action. However, the situation took a grave turn when she was found to be involved in drug-related activities.

Caught with Narcotics During Anti-Drug Campaign

Punjab Police is currently intensifying its statewide anti-drug campaign. During a recent operation, the anti-drug squad intercepted a luxury Thar SUV in Bathinda. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to be carrying 17 grams of drugs. The vehicle belonged to Amandeep Kaur, who allegedly attempted to intimidate the squad officers and later tried to flee the scene.

Following her detention, police confirmed that she was relieved from duty. Investigations have revealed that she may also be involved in the sale of narcotics in neighboring Haryana.

Property Investigation Ordered

Senior police officer Sukhchain Singh from the Punjab Police Headquarters confirmed that a full-scale investigation into Amandeep Kaur’s assets is now underway. "If we find any illegal acquisition or suspicious assets, her property will be seized in accordance with government rules," Singh said. He also emphasized that such actions will serve as a strong deterrent to others in the force.

The incident has shocked many in the department and highlights the urgent need for stricter enforcement of professional conduct rules, especially in light of the state’s ongoing battle against drug abuse.
