Veteran Actor Achyut Potdar Passes Away at 91
Veteran actor Achyut Potdar, who created a special identity in both Bollywood and Marathi cinema, passed away on Monday at the age of 91. He was undergoing treatment at Jupiter Hospital in Thane due to illness and took his last breath during this time. His death has caused mourning in the film industry.
Before entering the field of acting, Achyut Potdar was a military officer. After retiring from the rank of Captain, he worked in a senior position at Indian Oil Company. However, his passion for acting was so strong that he stepped onto the silver screen in the 1980s. For nearly four decades, he entertained audiences by playing significant roles in Hindi and Marathi films.
He worked in more than 125 films. His roles in films like 'Aakrosh', 'Ardh Satya', 'Tezaab', 'Parinda', 'Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman', 'Rangeela', 'Vaastav', 'Bhai', 'Dabangg 2', and 'Ventilator' were particularly appreciated. However, his role as a professor in the superhit film '3 Idiots', directed by Rajkumar Hirani, remains etched in the audience's memory. The dialogues from this film are still discussed today.
Along with films, they also made a mark on the small screen. They delivered perfect performances in series like 'Wagle Ki Duniya', 'Maza Hoshil Na', 'Mrs. Tendulkar', and 'Bharat Ki Khoj'. Along with acting, their discipline, simplicity, and hard work won the hearts of fans.
