In a concerning mid-air development, Lufthansa flight LH752 from Frankfurt to Hyderabad was forced to return to its point of origin on Sunday due to a bomb threat. According to Hyderabad airport officials, the threat was reportedly received before the aircraft entered Indian airspace. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner took off from Frankfurt at 2:14 pm local time (5:44 pm IST) and was scheduled to land at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad early Monday morning. However, just two hours into the flight, the plane made a U-turn and returned to Frankfurt.

A passenger onboard the flight told PTI, “The journey was going smoothly when we were suddenly informed that the flight was turning back. We were brought back to Frankfurt. The airline has arranged accommodation for us at the airport. The journey will resume tomorrow at 10 am (1:30 am IST) on the same aircraft.” Lufthansa’s website confirmed that the aircraft landed back in Frankfurt at 5:30 pm local time (9 pm IST). The airline also stated that the decision to return was made because Hyderabad airport authorities did not permit the plane to land under the circumstances.

A Lufthansa spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying, “The aircraft returned as a precautionary measure due to a bomb threat. The safety of passengers and crew is our top priority.” However, details regarding the specific nature of the threat have not yet been disclosed. This incident comes amid heightened aviation concerns following a recent tragic crash of another Boeing 787 aircraft in Ahmedabad, which claimed the lives of 241 passengers and 33 individuals at a nearby medical hostel. Authorities are now conducting a thorough investigation into the threat that led to Lufthansa’s emergency return. Passengers are expected to resume their journey on Monday.
