In a tragic development amid the escalating India-Pakistan conflict, Additional District Development Commissioner Raj Kumar Thapa was killed in Pakistani firing in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident took place against the backdrop of Operation Sindoor, India’s ongoing military campaign launched in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack.

According to official sources, Commissioner Thapa was caught in cross-border firing while on duty in a sensitive area near the Line of Control. Along with him, two government employees were also seriously injured in the attack. The injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital, and their condition is currently reported to be critical.

This attack is part of a series of cross-border provocations initiated by Pakistan in recent days. Pakistani forces have carried out multiple drone and missile strikes targeting Indian cities, including those in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. However, Indian security forces have successfully intercepted and neutralized the majority of these attacks.

The Indian Army has responded strongly, including targeting and destroying terrorist launch pads in Pakistan-occupied areas such as Sialkot. Operation Sindoor continues to be carried out with precision as India aims to dismantle the infrastructure behind cross-border terrorism.

Commissioner Thapa’s death has sent shockwaves through the administrative and security apparatus. His service and dedication to public duty have been widely acknowledged, and condolences are pouring in from across the political and administrative spectrum.
