Air India Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Thailand After Bomb Threat
In a distressing development, Air India flight AI-379, traveling from Phuket, Thailand to Delhi, was forced to make an emergency landing on Friday after receiving a bomb threat mid-air. The incident occurred just a day after the tragic Ahmedabad plane crash, further intensifying concerns over aviation safety.
The flight, carrying 156 passengers, returned to Phuket airport after circling over the Andaman Sea. All passengers were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported. Authorities have confirmed that a thorough security check of the aircraft is currently underway.
“Flight AI-379 has landed safely, and emergency protocols are in place,” an airport official stated. “The aircraft was immediately diverted back to Phuket once the threat was received, and all passengers were deplaned as a precaution.”
The plane had departed from Phuket airport at 9:30 AM on Friday and was headed for Delhi when the bomb threat was received over the Andaman Sea. The identity of the person responsible for the threat remains unknown at this time, and investigations are ongoing.
Security personnel and bomb disposal teams are conducting detailed checks to ensure the aircraft is secure before resuming operations. Officials have yet to confirm whether the threat was credible or a hoax. This alarming incident comes merely a day after a major aviation tragedy in Ahmedabad, which claimed 242 lives. Although the two incidents are not officially linked, the proximity in timing has heightened anxiety among passengers and aviation authorities alike.
