Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah has come under fire for making a controversial and objectionable statement against Colonel Sophia Qureshi, a highly respected officer in the Indian Army. The remark was made in connection with Operation Sindoor, during which Shah allegedly referred to Colonel Qureshi as the "sister of terrorists."

The statement has sparked widespread outrage, leading to intense criticism from various quarters, including defense personnel, political leaders, and civil society. In response, a case has now been registered against the BJP minister at Manpur Police Station in Indore, following the orders of the Jabalpur High Court.

The High Court took suo motu cognizance of Shah's statement and issued a strong reprimand, condemning the derogatory comment made against Colonel Qureshi. Legal proceedings have been initiated against him under Sections 152, 196(1), and 197(1)(a) of the Indian Penal Code.

Colonel Sophia Qureshi, who has earned recognition for her exemplary service in the Indian Army, was the first woman to lead an Indian Army contingent in an international military exercise. The defamatory remark has been seen as deeply disrespectful to her service and integrity.

Legal experts and activists have welcomed the court's intervention, stating that such remarks not only tarnish the image of armed forces personnel but also degrade the standards of public discourse.
