Earthquake of magnitude 4.5 hits China
An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale struck southern China early Friday morning, with tremors also felt near the border with Myanmar. The National Center for Seismology (NCS), India, confirmed the seismic activity and noted that the quake occurred at a depth of approximately 10 kilometers below the earth's surface.
The tremor was recorded at around 6:29 AM (local time), with the epicenter located at 25.05°N latitude and 99.72°E longitude. While the quake was classified as moderate, it caused alarm among residents in the affected region due to its proximity to populated areas.
Fortunately, no casualties or major financial damages have been reported so far. Authorities are monitoring the situation, and local emergency services have been placed on alert as a precautionary measure.
The region has experienced mild tremors over the past few days, leading experts to caution that a stronger seismic event could potentially occur in the near future.
It’s worth noting that just two months ago, the same region was rocked by a powerful 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar, which caused significant destruction, including damage to several buildings and infrastructure.
