Tensions between India and Pakistan have sharply escalated following the launch of India’s Operation Sindoor, aimed at avenging the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack. Since India destroyed nine terrorist camps on May 7, the situation at the border has grown increasingly volatile.

On Thursday evening, Pakistan launched a series of drone and missile attacks targeting multiple Indian cities for the second consecutive day. Indian security forces responded swiftly, successfully intercepting and neutralizing the attacks. In a significant development, a Pakistani pilot was captured after allegedly crossing into Indian territory during the exchange. India’s counteroffensive has resulted in the destruction of several Pakistani missiles and components of its air defense system, signaling a strong and strategic military response

Civilian Casualties in Uri Sector

Amid ongoing hostilities, cross-border firing by Pakistani forces in the Uri sector of Baramulla district in North Kashmir has resulted in civilian casualties. One woman, identified as Nargis Begum, was killed, and another civilian, Hafeez — wife of Razik Ahmed Khan — was seriously injured when their vehicle was fired upon near Mohura while traveling from Rajarwani to Baramulla. The injured was rushed to GMC Baramulla for urgent medical treatment.

Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have issued a high alert, urging residents to stay indoors and observe blackout protocols during night hours to avoid further civilian harm.

Security Tightened, Nation on High Alert

With tensions continuing to rise, security has been significantly increased across border states. Intelligence agencies and military forces remain on high alert to prevent further incursions or attacks. The situation remains tense, with calls for civilian caution and continued readiness by India’s defense forces.

The Indian government has reiterated its commitment to national security and warned that any further provocation will be met with a decisive and forceful response.
