Char Dham Yatra: Important news! Use of mobile phones and cameras prohibited in temples during Chardham Yatra
This year, a decision has been made to completely ban mobile phones and cameras in the temple complex during the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand. Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey announced this to the press after a review meeting with the District Magistrate, Senior Superintendent of Police, and departmental officers, stating that this strict decision has been taken to curb the problems caused by mobiles during the darshan in the temple premises.
Before entering the temple for darshan, devotees will have to leave their mobile phones and cameras, but after exiting the temple, they can take photos and videos with the temple in the background, Pandey clarified. The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee has been instructed to make separate arrangements in the temple premises to keep the devotees' devices safe, and this step has been taken to maintain devotion as the Char Dhams are sacred pilgrimage sites.
During the last pilgrimage, more than 5 million devotees visited Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath, and this year, several measures will be taken to make the pilgrimage smoother. The commissioner stated that this ban will keep the atmosphere of the pilgrimage calm and pure, and appealed to the devotees to cooperate.
