Piyush Goyal On India-US Deal: India will not sign any agreement under any pressure; Piyush Goyal's strong message to America
At a conference held in Berlin, Piyush Goyal made an important statement about the United States. Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has announced that India will not rush into decisions in any international trade agreement. Speaking at the Berlin Global Dialogue conference held in Berlin, he stated, “India does not enter into agreements under any deadline or pressure. We trade with a sense of trust, transparency, and long-term cooperation.”
Goyal clarified that the process of discussion between India and the United States is ongoing, but a fair and balanced agreement is necessary. Currently, there are some disagreements between the two countries on certain issues. The United States has imposed up to 50 percent tariffs on Indian products and a 25 percent tax on oil purchases from Russia. Nevertheless, India is trying to resolve the issues through dialogue.
The Commerce Minister stated that India makes decisions based on its economic and strategic interests without succumbing to pressure from any country. Criticizing the double standards of European countries, he said, “No one can tell India not to maintain relations with a third country, whether it is Russia or any other country.”
Speaking about energy security, Goyal said that affordable and stable energy supply is a national necessity for India. "Purchasing oil from Russia is not a political decision but a practical decision made in the interest of the Indian people and industries," he clarified. Goyal's statements once again underscore India's proud and balanced global trade perspective.
