Iran Warns U.S. Khamenei's Tweet Sparks Global Discussion

US-Iran tensions: Khamenei's tweets raise concerns
Published on

In a stark warning to the United States, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has once again issued a strong threat, claiming Iran has access to American military bases across the Middle East and could retaliate if provoked. His latest comments have reignited tensions in the region and sparked a wave of responses online and from global leaders.

Khamenei's warning came through a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where he wrote, “Iran has slapped America in the face. We attacked and damaged its Al-Udeid air base, one of the key American bases in the region.” He added, “If the enemy attacks, they will have to pay a heavy price.”

This was Khamenei’s first public statement since the recently brokered ceasefire between Iran and Israel. Praising Iran’s actions, he accused the United States of intervening in the conflict to save its ally, Israel. “The American government entered the war directly because it feared Israel would be completely destroyed — and yet, it gained nothing,” Khamenei asserted.

Trump Responds with Optimism

Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald Trump also weighed in on the ceasefire. Speaking at a press event, Trump claimed, “Israel and Iran came to me almost simultaneously to discuss peace. I knew the time had come.” Describing the outcome as historic, Trump said, “The world and the Middle East are the real winners. Both nations will now experience love, peace, and prosperity. They have a lot to gain.”

Trump’s remarks have been met with mixed reactions, particularly in light of the recent U.S. military operation against Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Operation Midnight Hammer: A Game-Changer

On June 22, 2025, the U.S. launched a massive aerial offensive, codenamed Operation Midnight Hammer, targeting Iran’s key nuclear sites—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. The operation involved over 125 aircraft, including 7 B-2 stealth bombers, and more than 30 Tomahawk missiles. According to Trump, the airstrikes caused severe damage to Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

While American officials hailed the mission as a strategic success, Iran has promised a strong retaliation. Experts warn that the region remains on the edge, as both countries continue to exchange verbal barbs and flex military capabilities.

Global Concern Grows

The international community has expressed deep concern over the escalation, urging both sides to refrain from further aggression. Analysts believe that although a ceasefire is currently in place, the situation remains volatile, with any miscalculation potentially leading to wider conflict.

As Iran reiterates its warning and the U.S. maintains its military posture, the coming weeks will be critical in determining whether diplomacy can prevail—or if the region is heading toward a new chapter of confrontation.
