Islamabad Blast: Major explosion during prayers in Islamabad, 15 dead, over 80 injured

A major bomb explosion occurred at the Imam Bargah Khadijat-ul-Kubra in the Tarlai area of Islamabad, resulting in 15 deaths and over 80 injuries. The explosion happened on Friday (February 6) during prayers, and preliminary information suggests it may have been a suicide attack. No terrorist organization has yet claimed responsibility.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police, security forces, and rescue teams rushed to the scene. The entire Imam Bargah and surrounding area have been cordoned off, and a state of emergency has been declared in Islamabad city. Islamabad Capital Territory Police spokesperson Taqi Jawad stated that forensic investigations are underway to determine the nature of the explosion. It will be clarified through the investigation whether it was a suicide attack or a planted bomb.

The explosion in the Shia mosque area caused significant loss of life. The injured have been admitted to Polyclinic, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), and CDA Hospital. The main emergency, orthopedic, burn center, and neurology departments have been activated at PIMS. This incident in the Sheherzad Town area has created an atmosphere of fear among the citizens. Videos have gone viral on social media, showing people lying unconscious on the ground and helping each other.

This incident occurred during the two-day official visit of Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Pakistani media Dawn News reported that investigative agencies are gathering evidence and trying to determine the exact cause of the explosion. Security agencies have taken strict measures and have urged citizens to remain vigilant.
