In a significant breakthrough in the investigation of the Pahalgam terror attack, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two individuals accused of harbouring terrorists responsible for the brutal assault that left 26 innocent tourists dead and 16 others seriously injured.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Parvez Ahmed Jothar, a resident of Batkot, and Bashir Ahmed Jothar from Hill Park, both located in the Pahalgam region. According to NIA officials, both individuals have confessed to sheltering three armed terrorists prior to the attack and have confirmed that the attackers were Pakistani nationals affiliated with the banned terror organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The NIA's investigation revealed that Parvez and Bashir provided the terrorists with food, shelter, and logistical support, allowing them to stay hidden in a temporary dhok (hut) in the Hill Park area. This hideout served as their base before launching the deadly ambush that specifically targeted tourists based on their religious identity, making it one of the most horrific and targeted terror attacks in the region in recent years.

The arrested individuals have also provided key intelligence that may assist in identifying the wider network supporting the terrorists. Officials believe that this marks a critical step forward in dismantling Lashkar-e-Taiba’s local support structure in Jammu and Kashmir. The NIA continues its probe, and further arrests are expected as investigations progress.
