Indian Web Series Propel Netflix to 16,000 Crore Profit Amid Global Audience Surge
Netflix has made a huge splash in India in the last few years. Filming in around 90 cities across the country, they have produced over 150 Indian web series and web movies. Not only has this garnered a positive response from the audience, but Netflix has also achieved huge success commercially.
'Sacred Games', the first Hindi web series on Netflix, released in 2018, became a huge hit in India and around the world. Starring Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the series turned the attention of Indian audiences towards web series. After this, Netflix started focusing more on Indian content.
This success has also given a boost to the creative sector in India. During this period, nearly 20,000 Indian artists, technicians and production companies got employment opportunities. This has given a boost to the growth of the Indian entertainment industry, Sarandos explained.

Sarandos also said that Indian producers and writers should give more priority to stories related to their soil and local culture. Audiences around the world are preferring such content. He said that Indian stories and folklore have a huge appeal internationally. This success is likely to further increase Netflix's investment in India.
