PM Modi Maldives Visit : Prime Minister Modi Announces a Loan of 565 Million Dollars to Maldives
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a loan of 565 million dollars during his two-day visit to the Maldives. India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a foreign tour. This visit is mainly to strengthen development cooperation, and against the backdrop of China's growing influence, India is strengthening its relations with the Maldives. Modi clarified that the announced amount will be used for infrastructure projects in the Maldives. Prime Minister Modi also discussed a free trade agreement between India and the Maldives.
“This aid will be used considering the needs of the Maldivian people, and both countries will soon finalize an investment agreement. India will always be the first responder for the Maldives. India helped the Maldives overcome economic difficulties, and as a result, the relations between the two countries improved again. Later, Muizzu visited India.
Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu stated that the financial aid received from India will be useful in the fields of defense, health, education, and housing. He also praised India's consistent cooperation in goods exports. Prime Minister Modi is participating in the Maldives' 60th Independence Day program. Additionally, he will inaugurate the Hanimaadhoo International Airport expansion project, which is being constructed with India's cooperation.
