( Sonam Wangchuk ) The central government has taken strict action against the famous Students' Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL) in Ladakh by canceling its FCRA license. The FCRA registration of an NGO run by Sonam Wangchuk has been canceled by the government. The Ministry of Home Affairs' investigation found that the organization repeatedly violated rules while accepting foreign funds.

According to the information provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs, a show cause notice was issued to the organization on August 20, 2025. However, no immediate response was received. After a reminder was sent on September 10, a response was finally submitted by the organization on September 19. But the ministry's investigation did not express satisfaction with that response.

The investigation revealed that local funds were mistakenly deposited into the FCRA account. In the financial year 2020-21, an amount of 54,600 rupees was collected from three individuals and was shown in the foreign account. Similarly, in the year 2021-22, there were errors from the organization in presenting the details of donations amounting to 3.35 lakh rupees received in the name of Wangchuk. Moreover, it was found that there was a failure to demonstrate the necessary transparency in the accounting of foreign donations.

Due to all these reasons, the ministry canceled SECMOL's FCRA license. As a result, the organization will no longer be permitted to accept funds from abroad.
