Donald Trump: Donald Trump Nobel laureate, Pakistan sang his praises; Trump's reaction revealed
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again found himself at the center of global headlines, following a formal nomination by the Government of Pakistan for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. Trump responded to the announcement with enthusiasm, reiterating his claim that he has contributed significantly to international peace efforts.
In a statement released following the nomination, Trump said, "I have done a great job of peacebuilding on serious issues like Rwanda, Congo, Serbia-Kosovo, and especially India-Pakistan. I should have won the Nobel four or five times already." The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs made the announcement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), praising Trump's “decisive diplomatic interventions and leadership” in mediating global conflicts.
Claims Under Scrutiny
Trump cited several geopolitical hotspots, claiming to have played key roles in easing tensions — including India-Pakistan, Rwanda-Congo, and Serbia-Kosovo. However, these claims are facing skepticism. While Trump has repeatedly asserted that he mediated between India and Pakistan, the Indian government has consistently denied that any such intervention took place. On Monday, Trump also mentioned a supposed peace agreement between Rwanda and Congo but did not provide any details, and there is no official confirmation of U.S. involvement in such negotiations.
Political Allegations
Trump also suggested political bias in the Nobel selection process, saying, “They don’t give me the Nobel because I’m not a liberal.” This is not the first time the former President has expressed frustration over being overlooked for the prestigious award. Previously, Trump was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in connection with the Abraham Accords — a series of normalization agreements between Israel and several Arab nations brokered during his administration — but did not win. As of now, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has not issued any statement regarding the new nomination or Trump’s remarks.
