Women Reservation : 35% government job reservation for women In Bihar
In a significant move ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced 35% reservation for women in all government job posts across the state. The decision was approved during a state cabinet meeting held in Patna.
Addressing the media and sharing updates on social media, CM Nitish Kumar stated, “Women who are natives of Bihar will be granted 35% reservation in direct recruitment across all levels of government employment.” This landmark step is aimed at enhancing women's participation in governance and creating greater opportunities in public service. Alongside this announcement, the state government also approved the formation of a Bihar Youth Commission, an independent body focused on the development and welfare of the state’s youth.

Bihar Youth Commission: Structure and Mandate
The newly proposed Bihar Youth Commission will consist of a Chairperson, two Vice-Chairpersons, and seven members, all under the age of 45. This body will advise the government on youth-related policies and initiatives
Functions of the Commission:
Formulate welfare schemes and provide strategic input for youth development.
Coordinate with departments on education, employment, and skill development.
Recommend policies to prioritize local youth in private sector employment.
Spread awareness about addiction and suggest rehabilitation strategies.
Safeguard the interests of students and workers from Bihar residing outside the state.
According to the state government, these initiatives are expected to make Bihar’s youth more empowered, skilled, and self-reliant, while also giving women a stronger voice and presence in administrative roles.
