Mumbai Megablock: Disruptions on Central and Harbour Railway Lines Today — Full Schedule Inside
Mumbai commuters, brace for delays and cancellations as Central Railway has announced a mega block today, Sunday, affecting key routes including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Vidyavihar and Kurla to Vashi. The block is expected to cause significant disruption to local train schedules, with multiple services either cancelled or delayed.
Western Railway: Major Disruption Overnight
Western Railway services were also hit earlier this weekend. In a planned operation to install a bridge girder between Mahim and Bandra stations, over 100 local trains were cancelled from Friday night through early Saturday morning.
The work, which began after 10:23 pm on Friday, led to slow trains on both up and down lines being diverted to the fast track between Mumbai Central and Santacruz. This diversion left several stations—Mahalaxmi, Lower Parel, Prabhadevi, Matunga Road, Mahim, and Khar Road—without service, severely inconveniencing passengers.
Regular halts at these stations resumed only after 8:30 am on Saturday. The schedule disruption caused widespread delays, especially for commuters travelling from Borivali, Andheri, and Virar, many of whom arrived late for work during the morning peak hours.
Central Railway Megablock: CSMT to Vidyavihar
Central Railway has declared a megablock on the slow line (up and down) between CSMT and Vidyavihar from 10:55 am to 3:35 pm today. During this period:
Slow line services will be diverted to the fast line, impacting halt patterns.
No local trains will stop at the following stations:
Masjid
Sandhurst Road
Chinchpokli
Curry Road
Several local trains are expected to be cancelled, and others may experience delays.
Harbour Line: Complete Block Between Kurla and Vashi
A megablock on the Harbour Line has also been scheduled for today, affecting services between:
Kurla and Vashi (Up and Down lines)
CSMT to Panvel/Belapur/Vashi
Key details include:
All local trains on the affected sections will remain cancelled.
Special local services will operate between:
CSMT and Kurla
Panvel and Vashi
Expect delays of up to 20 minutes on some Harbour line routes.
Commuter Advisory
Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly, considering the cancellations and changes in train halts. With significant delays expected on both Central and Harbour lines, passengers should allow extra travel time or explore alternative modes of transport where possible.
