COVID-19 Cases in India Cross 1,000 Amid Rising Concerns Over New Strain
As the world gradually recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, India is witnessing a worrying resurgence in coronavirus cases. The number of active COVID-19 cases in the country has now surpassed 1,000, raising concerns among health authorities about the emergence of a new virus strain.
According to official data, India has recorded more than 1,010 active COVID-19 cases as of the latest update. This renewed uptick in infections is believed to be driven by a new variant of the coronavirus, which has sparked fears of another potential wave.
Among the affected states, Kerala and Maharashtra are reporting the highest number of active cases. Kerala has confirmed 430 active patients, including 335 newly detected cases, while Maharashtra has 383 active cases at present.
Health experts are closely monitoring the situation, and the public is being urged to follow COVID-appropriate behaviour, including wearing masks in crowded places and practicing good hygiene, especially in areas witnessing a spike in cases.
