Scroll down to read the news in brief...
The government has taken several strict measures to control the increasing air pollution in Delhi. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh stated that there has been a 20-point reduction in AQI compared to last November. For this, 3,427 out of 5,300 electric vehicle (EV) buses have been brought onto the roads. Additionally, a special team of scientists has been formed, and its first meeting was held on the 12th. He also clarified that from tomorrow, vehicles without a PUCC certificate will not receive fuel at petrol pumps.
Any trucks carrying construction materials in Delhi will now be sealed, which will help prevent dust and pollution. Additionally, the government has announced that vehicles from other states complying with BS-6 standards will not be allowed entry into Delhi. If vehicles of a lower standard than BS-6 enter Delhi, they will be immediately sealed. This measure is crucial for controlling sources of pollution.
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also staged strong protests today against the rising pollution in Delhi. AAP workers took to the streets of the Secretariat, trying to wake up the Delhi government by banging plates. AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said, "We have come here to wake up the Delhi government by banging plates. This crisis of pollution cannot be ignored." Whether this will improve the air quality in Delhi, only time will tell. According to experts, EV buses and strict regulations can have long-term benefits.
