(Vice-Presidential Election) The voting process for the Vice-Presidential position will take place today, Tuesday, 9th September 2025. In this election, there is a direct contest between NDA candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan and India alliance candidate former Justice Sudarshan Reddy.
A total of 782 MPs will vote in this election, including 543 from the Lok Sabha, 233 from the Rajya Sabha, and 12 nominated members. The Vice Presidential election is conducted through the proportional representation system (STV). MPs vote for candidates in order of preference through secret ballot, and the counting process continues until a majority is reached.
After Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned, the election for the Vice President was announced. The voting process for this will take place today. Political developments in Delhi have gained momentum, and the voting process will be conducted from 10 AM to 5 PM. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will vote in the Vice Presidential election at 10 AM.
