According to Goa Police, the deceased included four tourists, 14 employees, and seven people whose identities are yet to be confirmed. Six people injured in the incident are undergoing treatment. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

Access to the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub near the backwaters of the Arpora river is only possible through narrow alleys. Although it identifies itself as an island club, limited entry and exit points posed a significant obstacle to rescue operations. Officials said that fire brigade vehicles could not reach the site directly and had to be stationed about 400 meters away.
