Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Tragic End for Family of Five With Dreams of a New Life in London
A heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded today as an Air India flight crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, claiming 241 lives. Among the victims was a respected medical family from Banswara district in Rajasthan, whose dreams of starting a new life in London came to a devastating end.
Dr. Kauni Vyas, her husband Dr. Prateek Joshi, and their three young children — daughter Niyara and sons Nakul and Pradyut — were on board the ill-fated flight. The family was en route to London, hoping to begin a new chapter together. Dr. Kauni had recently resigned from Pacific Hospital in Udaipur, and the couple had made the decision to relocate overseas.
Their journey, filled with hope and ambition, turned into their final flight. The Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner, carrying 242 passengers, crashed into a residential area just 10 minutes after takeoff from runway 23 at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, at approximately 1:39 p.m. on Thursday. The news sent shockwaves through Banswara, where the Joshi family was known for its dedication to public service and education. Both Dr. Kauni and Dr. Prateek were highly regarded medical professionals. Dr. Prateek Joshi's parents, also doctors, had long been involved in healthcare services in the region.
“The family was a symbol of respect and service in our community,” said a local resident. “It’s impossible to believe they are no longer with us.” As rescue operations continue and investigations begin into the cause of the crash, the town of Banswara is in mourning — a community shattered by the loss of an entire family whose only wish was to build a better future abroad.
