The weather department (IMD) has issued a concerning warning for those hoping for relief from the severe cold. There is a possibility of heavy rain, storms, and winds at speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in nine states from January 22 to 25. This will lead to a significant drop in temperature and reduced visibility, affecting road traffic and daily life.

The minimum temperature in Delhi on Wednesday will be 8 degrees Celsius, with light to moderate rain from January 23. A cold wave has started in more than 10 cities including Lucknow, Kanpur, and Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, where cold winds are blowing at a speed of 15 km per hour in the morning. In Patna, Gaya, and Darbhanga in Bihar, the temperature will drop by one or two degrees from January 20. There is a warning of moderate to heavy rain in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

The situation is serious in the hilly areas. From January 22 to 24, there will be heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh. The temperature in Shimla will drop to 2 degrees, while in Manali it will go 15 degrees below zero. It will rain in Dehradun, Nainital, and Pauri Garhwal in Uttarakhand on January 23. Due to the western disturbance, it will rain in Jaipur, Sikar, Jodhpur in Rajasthan, and Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh.

The weather department has advised farmers to protect their crops. Severe cold will persist in North and Central India in the last week of January, which will require people to remain alert.
