India's young chess player Divya Deshmukh has achieved a historic feat by winning the 2025 Women's Chess World Cup. At just 19 years old, Divya claimed this honor by defeating India's own legendary player Koneru Humpy in the final match held in Batumi, Georgia. With this victory, Divya became the first Indian woman to win the World Cup, and she also became India's fourth female Grandmaster.

The final match of this competition was entirely among Indian players. Therefore, it was certain that India would have a champion, but Divya triumphed by defeating experience with youthful enthusiasm. The first round was played on Saturday, July 26. Divya was very close to victory, but due to mistakes made at the last moment, the match ended in a draw. The same happened in the second round on Sunday. As a result, a tiebreaker was played.

Since 38-year-old Koneru Humpy was more experienced in the rapid format, her dominance was expected. But on Monday, July 28, Divya played brilliantly in the tiebreak, engaging Humpy in her own game, forcing her to make mistakes, and claimed the title. This was not just a competition, but the third golden chapter of Divya's consistent success. Previously, she had won the Junior World Championship title.

After that, she played a significant role in making the Indian women's team victorious at the Chess Olympiad held in Budapest. She also won a gold medal in the individual category. Divya's successful journey has become an inspiring chapter not only for her but for the entire Indian chess community. She has become a role model for young chess players in the country today. Her name has now become immortal in the history of Indian chess.
