Couple Arrested for Murdering Jabalpur Man in Fake Marriage Plot
Published on

In a shocking case of fraud and murder, a 45-year-old man from Jabalpur, Indu Kumar Tiwari, was lured into a fake marriage and subsequently killed by a couple posing as potential in-laws. The accused – Kaushal Gaur and his wife Khushi – have been arrested by the police, and valuables worth over ₹14 lakh have been seized from them.

According to police reports, Indu Kumar Tiwari was a follower of well-known storyteller Aniruddha Acharya. During one of Acharya's sermons, Tiwari publicly expressed that he was unmarried and looking for a life partner, also mentioning that he possessed considerable wealth. This statement, which was captured on video and went viral on social media, caught the attention of Kaushal and Khushi, a couple from Gorakhpur.

Sensing an opportunity, Kaushal contacted Tiwari under the pretext that his "sister" (who was in fact his wife, Khushi) was also looking for marriage. Khushi soon began communicating with Tiwari, and over time, the couple built trust and convinced him of their intentions. Eventually, a wedding ceremony was planned and carried out on June 5 in Gorakhpur.

Unaware of the trap, Tiwari joyfully shared wedding photos with his family in Jabalpur. However, shortly after the wedding, Tiwari’s phone was switched off, raising concern among his relatives. When he remained unreachable, his family filed a missing person report with the police.

During the investigation, a body was discovered in Gorakhpur. It was later confirmed to be that of Indu Kumar Tiwari. Police investigations revealed that after the wedding, Khushi and Kaushal murdered Tiwari and stole his property, including cash and gold.

The motive behind the murder was to acquire Tiwari’s wealth by faking the marriage and then eliminating him. The police have registered a case against the accused couple and further investigations are ongoing.

The incident has sparked outrage and fear, highlighting the dangers of trusting strangers met through social media and unverified connections. Authorities have advised the public to be cautious and verify identities thoroughly before engaging in personal commitments.
