Mahayuti: Intense Dissatisfaction Among BJP Workers Over Mahayuti Seat Allocation
In the backdrop of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation election 2026, open tension has emerged in the Mahayuti for the first time. As soon as the seat allocation formula was announced, intense dissatisfaction erupted among BJP workers, causing a stir in KDMC politics.
After long meetings, discussions, and behind-the-scenes negotiations, the seat-sharing formula for the Shiv Sena-BJP grand alliance was finally decided. Accordingly, Shiv Sena agreed to 67 seats while BJP agreed to 54 seats. However, in this formula, BJP received only seven seats in the Kalyan East division, causing significant discontent among local workers.
Strong Sloganeering Outside MLA's Office
This discontent erupted directly onto the streets. Last night, a large number of BJP workers gathered outside the office of BJP MLA Sulbha Gaikwad. Expressing their anger, they shouted slogans like “Do not do injustice to the workers” and “If justice is not served, BJP will fight independently in Kalyan East.” This sudden protest significantly heated up the atmosphere in the area.
Accusation of Ignoring Workers' Sentiments
While allocating seats, senior leaders did not take local workers into confidence, a direct accusation made by BJP workers. They expressed that due to allied parties, they are being cornered, and hardworking workers are being ignored. Complaints regarding all this discontent were made to District President Nandurbar Parab and Election Chief Nana Suryavanshi.
At this time, Nana Suryavanshi assured that he would understand the workers' sentiments and convey them to the senior level. He acknowledged that BJP received fewer seats than expected and clarified that this would be discussed with the seniors. However, despite attempts to pacify, the workers' discontent did not seem to diminish.
Signs of growing disagreements in the grand alliance
Although the formula has been decided, the dissatisfaction arising from it suggests that the internal conflict between Shiv Sena and BJP may intensify. Everyone is watching to see whether the senior leaders of the grand alliance resolve this tension in the coming days or if the conflict escalates further.
Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) accelerates candidate interviews
Meanwhile, the process of candidate selection by Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) is in full swing. For the Kalyan West division in the KDMC 2026 elections, as many as 166 aspirants have been interviewed for ten panels. Discussions regarding the alliance are ongoing, and a final decision has not yet been made, according to district president Gopal Landge.
‘Information about seat allocation is false’ – Gopal Landge
Landge claimed that the current news spreading about seat allocation is false. Senior leaders of the grand alliance are still discussing, and the final decision will be announced by Eknath Shinde, he clarified. Those who have sitting seats will get them. Workers who came from BJP to Shiv Sena will also be given their seats, he expressed confidence.
The deadline for filing nomination papers is until 3 PM on the 30th, and AB forms will be given to suitable candidates before that. Decisions will be made after discussing ward-wise, and only the grand alliance's mayor will be elected, Landge also expressed firm confidence.
On one hand, there is the discontent of BJP workers, and on the other, the confidence of Shiv Sena. In this context, how the grand alliance's next steps in the KDMC elections will be politically very important to watch.
