Mumbai-Delhi, Mumbai-Pune, Flight Ticket Prices Skyrocket; Wallets Feel the Pinch
(IndiGo Flights Fare Hike ) Passengers across the country are facing difficulties as IndiGo Airlines has suddenly canceled a large number of flights. After the company canceled more than 900 flights, there is a huge crowd at Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru airports, reminiscent of a railway station. Due to this chaos, thousands of passengers have to rely on other airlines for travel. As the demand for flights from Akasa Air, Air India, and SpiceJet has suddenly increased, these companies have significantly raised ticket prices.
Two to four times increase in ticket prices
For urgent travel on busy routes like Delhi–Mumbai, Delhi–Bengaluru, and Chennai–Hyderabad, ticket prices have literally skyrocketed.
Tickets that were previously available for between 5000 to 7000 rupees have now become as expensive as 15,000 to 20,000 rupees. A ticket for a journey on the Mumbai–Delhi route is being sold for 30,000 to 35,000 rupees in some places. If you want to book a return journey, you have to pay 59,000 to 60,000 rupees. Passengers with no alternatives are forced to travel by paying this exorbitant price.
‘Opportunity in crisis’ — Airlines' game of price hikes
Competitor companies seem to be taking advantage of the situation created by Indigo's canceled flights. There is a feeling among citizens that without considering the passengers' difficulties, there is a tremendous increase in ticket prices, leading to their financial exploitation.
DGCA claims to monitor, but no action yet
Although the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) claims to be monitoring Indigo's flight cancellations, no concrete steps have been taken to control the increase in ticket prices. This has caused intense dissatisfaction among passengers.
