New rules related to ATMs will come into effect from today, i.e. from 1 May 2025. How many times can you transact through ATMs and how much fee will you have to pay if you transact beyond the limit prescribed by RBI? Let's now know the detailed information about this. In metros, three transactions are free, while in non-metro areas, five transactions are free from ATMs of other banks. After the prescribed free transactions, customers can be charged a maximum of Rs 23, and this will be effective from May 1, 2025, says the RBI guidelines. People living in metros can make three free transactions from ATMs of other banks, while people living in non-metro areas can make five free transactions from ATMs of other banks.

From today, i.e. May 1, 2025, if you use an ATM beyond the prescribed free limit, your bank may charge you a fee of up to Rs 23, up from Rs 21 earlier. This rate will apply to all transactions, whether you are withdrawing money or checking your balance. This fee will also apply to cash recycler machines, however, this fee will not apply to money deposits.
